COVID-19: Retired doctor among two fresh deaths in J&K, tally rises to 55 | KNO

Srinagar, June 13 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir union Territory on Saturday witnessed two more deaths due to Covid-19 pandemic taking the toll of Covid deaths to 55 that include 49 from Kashmir and six from Jammu division. The two fresh deaths include a retired doctor from Parrypora, Srinagar who died at JVC Bemina and a 60-year-old resident from Shopian district of South Kashmir, who breathed his last at SMHS hospital Srinagar. Medical Superintendent of SMHS hospital Srinagar, Dr Nazir Choudhary told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a 60-year-old patient from Shopian was admitted to the hospital on June 11 and his swab sample was taken the next day. “He was tested positive for the deadly virus. The patient was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and died on Saturday afternoon,” the doctor said. Medical superintendent JVC Bemina Dr Shifa Deva told KNO that a 74 –year-old retired doctor from Srinagar died at the hospital today morning. He was tested positive for Covid-19 few days before and was admitted at JVC on June 02, she said, adding that doctor was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) With two fresh deaths, Srinagar has recorded 13 fatalities due to the virus, followed by 10 in Baramulla, eight in Kulgam, six in Anantnag, four in Shopian, three each in Kupwara and Jammu, two each in Pulwama and Budgam while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri respectively—(KNO)
